Growing Organic Produce To Enrich Your Skin

What kinds of foods are good for your skin? Antioxidants and omega's 3 and 6 for starters, are great ways of keeping your skin healthy from the inside out. Now how can a person grow their own skin enriching foods if they have no yard or patio or other outdoor area to speak of? The answer is simple, get yourself a grow light. Yes, grow lights can help you create your very own indoor skin care garden.

Everyone's Going Organic

We know that organic foods are better for our bodies in general so it only stands to reason that organic home grown foods for skin health would be doubly good for us. When I was growing up we had an aloe plant. Aloe plants are crazy easy to grow and can be used for skin health and even on cuts and scrapes. Chamomile is easy to grow and along with sunflower oil can be found in many organic skin care products on the market. Can you picture a big old sunflower in one corner of your living room? Moisturizers, exfoliates and cleansers when organically grown are the absolute healthiest way to go about caring for your skin from the outside-in.

From the Inside-out

Healthy skin is easier to care for if you don't have to rely on applied creams and treatments. Eating the right foods that you have grown yourself will give your skin a natural boost. Avocados (which contain biotin) are good topical moisturizers but also great in salads, wraps and soups as well. Tomatoes are a great source of antioxidants and can help slow skin cell damage; so are kale, spinach, Brussel and alfalfa sprouts, broccoli, beets, red bell peppers, onions and egg plant. Polyphenols can be found in home grown green teas. All of these ingredients can be home grown organically and can also compliment your every day meals and be great for your skin.
