Planning a Perfect Baby Shower

The ideal baby shower is a celebration of impending motherhood and new life. It’s a moment for the new mother’s community of friends and family to gather together and share their excitement, love and support with the pregnant mother. Since every mother is different, the details of that woman’s perfect shower will differ as well. Still, planning the perfect shower is eminently possible with a little planning and creativity.

Plan. Plan. Plan.

Every good party begins with organization. Its possible to throw something together at the last minute, but your shower will be much more successful if you take some time to think and plan ahead of time. You will enjoy the process much more this way, too. If you start thinking about the shower early, you will have plenty of time to plan a theme, choose a guest list, and devise baby shower games—not to mention your menu. These are all tasks that become more difficult at the last minute. That’s not to say that a last minute party is impossible, but it will end up being much more informal and can become a bit haphazard.

A Little Something Extra

The second key ingredient for your party is harder to pin down. It’s emotional and it’s subjective. The best advice you will receive is to keep the guest of honor in mind at all times. Try to plan the party to suit her personality and interests and make sure you keep her comfort in mind. Is the mother to be more likely to enjoy an eco friendly shower or a luxurious spa themed shower? Answering these questions correctly is part of planning the perfect shower. At the end of the day, however, throwing someone a baby shower is an act of joy and love—that’s all it takes to elevate it to perfection.
