For years, Oprah Winfrey was the go-to talk show host for big name interviews. Other than Larry King and Barbara Walters, Oprah Winfrey was THE journalist celebrities, movie stars and people with fascinating stories went to share their stories. When Oprah went off the air last year to focus on her television network OWN, her legendary show shut off its lights for the very last time.  But that hasn't stopped Oprah's fierce interview skills.  A hole was left in the big name interview industry after Oprah left, but it seems as though she may be backtracking for a variety of reasons.

When Oprah left of CBS, she had a huge amount of money to fall back on, but unfortunately her network's debut hasn't been as popular as she had hoped.  This is likely why "her next chapter" may be going back to where she started in the first place - interviewing big name celebrities. Her network for months has been faced with potential failure due to not turning a profit.  As a way to bring in viewers, her new show on her network "Oprah's Next Chapter," appears to be going the way of her legendary talk show.  She recently interviewed the Kardashian family, rapper 50 Cent and Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Christina, all it in an effort to bring in more viewers.

Despite the fact that Oprah's network is available on a variety of cable providers, including DISH.com, her show is still not bringing in big ratings.  When her show was on CBS, her big-name interviews got upwards of 6 million viewers. The latest interview, however, with the Kardashians was only seen by 1.1 million viewers.

 

Oprah's next chapter is unfolding each day, and is certainly not what she expected.
